Casalis State Forest

Peterborough , NH

This is one of my favorite areas to hike, horseback ride, snowshoe. Managed by the division of Fish and Game, hunting is allowed on the 228 acres so one must use caution and wear a lot of hunter orange during hunting seasons. The trails link up with the Temple Mountain trails and, if you are lucky and energetic, you can find your way over to the Wapack Trail system. While a few trails are well cleared and easy to hike, some are muddy and rough, but well worth exploring, there are boardwalks over some of the wetlands. Some of these can be quite rickety. Four wheelers are not allowed on the trails.

There is a large pond for anglers and swimming dogs. The woods are some of the most peaceful and pleasing in the area.

You can access the park from 123. Take 123 South from 101. You will pass Bass Road on your left, watch for sign on your left. Parking is good, but not conducive to horse trailers.
