From Route 11 in take Kearsarge Valley Road south, and follow the signs for Winslow State
Park. There is an entrance fee at the gate, but there is ample parking and nice facilities
(picnic area, restrooms, water, etc...) as well as a complimentary map of the area and
trails. The trail starts from the far end of the parking lot, and is well marked in red
blazes. Climbing steeply in some places, and quite ledgy near the top, this makes for a
nice day hike, and has beautiful views of the surrounding area at the summit. There is a
newly blazed trail for the descent this year which was recommended to us upon entrance to
the park. It is a much more wooded trail, and less steep.
